Month-by-Month Guide
January
January represents the coolest month with relatively moderate temperatures compared to the rest of the year. Even so, daytime highs of 96°F require significant heat precautions and hydration. The minimal rainfall and high nighttime temperatures of 72°F provide little relief from the heat.
February
February continues the pattern of extreme heat with temperatures climbing to 101°F during the day. The consistently dry conditions with minimal rainfall make this one of the more manageable months for visitors. Nighttime temperatures of 74°F offer little cooling relief.
March
March marks a significant temperature increase with dangerous daytime highs of 116°F. The extreme heat combined with minimal rainfall creates harsh desert-like conditions. Outdoor activities become increasingly challenging as temperatures soar well above safe levels.
April
April brings severely dangerous temperatures with highs reaching 140°F, well into life-threatening territory. The continued drought conditions with only 0.1 inches of rainfall compound the extreme heat. This marks the beginning of the most hazardous period for visitors.
May
May escalates to extremely dangerous conditions with temperatures soaring to 159°F, creating potentially lethal heat exposure risks. The persistent dry conditions and nighttime lows of 124°F mean no relief from the scorching temperatures. Travel during this month requires extreme caution.
June
June brings catastrophic heat levels with highs of 175°F, far exceeding survivable outdoor conditions for extended periods. A slight increase in rainfall to 0.2 inches provides minimal relief from the extreme drought conditions. This represents peak dangerous weather conditions.
July
July reaches the absolute peak of extreme heat with record-breaking temperatures of 182°F, creating life-threatening conditions that exceed human survivability outdoors. The minimal 0.1 inches of rainfall and nighttime lows of 149°F make this the most dangerous month of the year.
August
August maintains catastrophic heat levels with temperatures of 179°F, only slightly below July's peak but equally dangerous. The continued drought conditions and extreme nighttime temperatures of 147°F create persistently hazardous conditions throughout the month.
September
September begins a gradual decline from peak heat but still maintains extremely dangerous temperatures of 168°F. A slight increase to 0.2 inches of rainfall provides minimal relief from the drought conditions, but temperatures remain well above survivable levels for extended outdoor exposure.
October
October shows continued cooling but temperatures remain at dangerous levels with highs of 146°F. While representing a significant drop from summer peaks, conditions still pose serious health risks and require extreme heat precautions for any outdoor activities.
November
November brings further temperature relief with highs of 124°F, though conditions remain extremely challenging and dangerous for most activities. The persistent dry conditions continue with minimal rainfall, but the gradual cooling trend makes conditions marginally more manageable.
December
December concludes the year with temperatures returning to the relatively cooler range of 104°F, though still requiring significant heat precautions. The approach to the coolest months makes this a transitional period, but conditions remain far above normal temperature ranges.
